I have laptop Toshiba with Windows Vista personal edition. I have all recent updates installed. I use Windows Mail. After I read messages in my inbox, if I close Windows Mail and then go back later, the messages are gone. This happens sometimes not always. Messages are not in trash not in junk folder, they are not deleted they are just totally gone. I looked in inbox, and in other folders, but messages are not there.
I also checked the filter on the top right filter. It is set to "Show All Messages". Any ideas ?

In both OutlookExpress and in WindowsMail go to Tools -> Accounts and select the account. Click Properties and on the Advanced tab check it to leave a copy on the
server and check the boxes below that. Change the default value '5' if you want, but do not make it too long.

This is bug of Microsoft Windows Mail. This is often to meet such post in Internet. In order to recover you email messages, select in the left pane "Local Folders" the right click with mouse and choose "Find..." . Find dialog will appear. It Looks like the attached picture. Choose the proper dates at the bottom when you had your messages lost. Then press the button "Find Now". Your messages should appear in the result. Select all messages from result by pressing CTRL+A and then drag and drop with the mouse the selected messages to your inbox, which is behind the "find" dialog. This procedure should have recovered your lost messages. Good luck.
